Ratan Tata, the late industrialist renowned for his leadership of the Tata Group and his philanthropic work, had designated his considerable wealth for employees and charitable causes in his will. However, a recently discovered document has unveiled an unexpected beneficiary who is set to receive Rs 500 crore, surprising many.
According to reports, the individual named in the will is Mohini Mohan Dutta, a travel entrepreneur from Jamshedpur. Dutta, who has been in the travel industry for over six decades, managed 'Stallion Travel Agency', which has collaborated with Taj Services, part of the Taj Group of Hotels, since 2013. Officials associated with the Tata Group confirmed that Dutta shared a close professional and personal bond with Ratan Tata.
Dutta stated that he had known Ratan Tata since the age of 24 and had received significant support from him throughout his career. He was also among the select few invited to Tata’s birthday celebration at the NCPA in Mumbai in December 2024.
The will also names Tata’s longtime associates, including personal assistants Rajan Shah and Subbaiah, as well as his pet dog Tito, as beneficiaries. Most of his assets, estimated at around Rs 10,000 crore, have been designated for various foundations set up by Tata, his brother Jimmy Tata, and other close associates, sources disclosed.
