Public Barred From Entering Rashtrapati Bhavan
Bangalore: The India Gate was blocked from visitors since February this year, due to terror threats. Joining the list is Rashtrapati Bhavan, which will not be open to the public from now on. This time it’s not because of terror threats, but to protect the historical building, after the recent RTI protest in front of it went haywire, reports Samuel to Shalini Narayan of The Indian Express.
The protest on August 26 against a new bill that would protect political parties from giving details under the RTI Act, was organized infront of Rashtrapati Bhavan. It led the authorities to implement police force around the building and ensure the public gets nowhere close to the monument. .
The Delhi Police have placed barricades around the building at a distance of 100 meters and no vehicles are allowed to pass through the line. These barricades are guarded with cops taking turns to guard the entries to the bhavan. Visitors are not allowed beyond this point until they possess valid passes.
