Preeti Bajaj Elected as New President of Indian Battery Manufacturers Association

The Indian Battery Manufacturers Association (IBMA) has elected Preeti Bajaj, CEO and Managing Director of Luminous Power Technologies Pvt. Ltd., as its new President. The election took place during IBMA’s 3rd Annual General Meeting held in New Delhi on August 28, 2024. The meeting was well attended by IBMA members and regulatory bodies, reflecting the growing significance of the battery manufacturing industry in India.
Preeti Bajaj, who previously served as the Vice President of IBMA, takes over the leadership from Arun Mittal of Exide Industries Ltd., who has been recognized for his dedicated and visionary service to the association. Rajesh Jindal, President and Chief Marketing Officer of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd., was elected as the new Vice President of IBMA.
In her new role, Preeti Bajaj is focused on advancing IBMA's mission to build a sustainable, innovative, and globally competitive battery manufacturing industry in India. She plans to drive technological advancements, promote sustainable practices, and bolster India's position as a global leader in the energy sector. Bajaj expressed her honor in assuming this role and emphasized the importance of collaboration to elevate the industry both nationally and internationally.
The meeting also highlighted IBMA’s ongoing efforts, with participants from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee acknowledging the association's initiatives and recommendations regarding compliance with the Battery Waste Management Rules (BWMR 2022).
