Nevertheless, there are cities all over the planet that have really outdone themselves when it comes to being polluted. Particle matter shortly known as PM 2.5 is the most harmful pollutant for human health. If in a city, PM 2.5 exceeds 10 g/m3, it starts creating health problem. Though being the capital of India, Delhi has qualified as “very unhealthy” by WHO. Here, air pollution is caused mainly by industry and vehicular traffic, which has released high levels of particulate matter made up of various substances including carbon, nitrogen, sulphur and metal compounds. The measure of PM 2.5 level here has exceeded by 153 µg/m3, which is very unsafe for human survival.
