PM to Inaugurate Assam's Business Summit on February 25

Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inauguration of the Assam Business Summit on February 25. The two-day summit will kick off with speeches from key industrialists, followed by the Prime Minister’s address at the inaugural session. Among the prominent industry leaders attending are Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, Gautam Adani of the Adani Group, Sajjan Jindal of JSW Group, Prashant Ruia of Essar, and Anil Agarwal of Vedanta. The event aims to foster business growth and investment in Assam, with these influential figures sharing insights on future opportunities.

Ambassadors from 61 countries will attend the Assam Business Summit, alongside high-level business delegations from key partner nations including Bhutan, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan. Union Ministers S. Jaishankar and Jyotiraditya Scindia will also play a prominent role in the event, presiding over key sessions on February 25, 2025. Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, will lead discussions on "Advancing Indo-Bhutan Economic Partnership" and "Act East, Act Fast and Act First." Meanwhile, Scindia, the Minister for Communications and DONER, will chair the session titled "Way to Viksit Assam," aimed at promoting Assam’s development and global economic engagement.

The Assam Business Summit will feature several thematic sessions, including discussions on "Assam Tea: 200 Years of Industry," MSMEs, Assam tourism, health innovations, and biomanufacturing and bio-foundries. On the second day of the summit, Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hardeep Singh Puri, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Piyush Goyal will be present, with Nitin Gadkari joining virtually. Vaishnaw will lead the session on "Advancing Semiconductor Horizons," while Puri will focus on hydrocarbons and Goyal will discuss export promotion. Additionally, Gadkari, Vaishnaw, and Sonowal will address sessions on road transport, railways, and shipping, respectively.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Assam Business Summit will feature thematic sessions on a variety of sectors, including agarwood processing and value addition, the startup ecosystem, renewable energy, bamboo's green potential, aerospace and defense manufacturing, space and geospatial technology, multilateral development bank financing to unlock private investment, and real estate and urban infrastructure. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will address the valedictory session of the summit. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that the summit is expected to attract investment proposals exceeding 120 lakh crore, with several key memoranda of understanding (MoUs) set to be signed during the event.
