PM Narendra Modi Unveils Boeing India Hub in Bengaluru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the new Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre (BIETC) campus in Bengaluru. Emphasizing its role as a focal point for innovation, he highlighted its potential to propel advancements in aviation. The Prime Minister further noted that the campus would contribute to reinforcing Bengaluru's identity. “Bengaluru is a city that connects aspirations with innovation and achievement. Bengaluru connects India's technological capability with global demand", he said at the launch.
Covering an expansive 43 acres, the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre (BIETC) campus was constructed with a substantial investment of Rs 1,600 crore. Regarded as Boeing's most significant investment beyond the borders of the United States, the new campus is poised to be a pivotal point for collaboration with India's dynamic startup, private, and government ecosystem, as per government statements.
The facility is poised to play a crucial role in the advancement of next-generation products and services for the worldwide aerospace and defense sector. Reports indicate that the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre (BIETC) will house a diverse engineering workforce of over 3,000, actively contributing to the global growth of the aerospace industry. Additionally, Boeing has plans to collaborate with the Indian armed forces, aiming to bolster demand for aircraft in the defense sector and actively contribute to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, as per sources.
At Friday's launch, PM Modi also launched the Boeing Sukanya Programme which aims to support the entry of more girl children from across India into the country’s growing aviation sector. The programme will provide opportunities for girls and women from across India to learn critical skills in the science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) fields and train for jobs in the aviation sector.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah attended the inauguration ceremony, expressing that the event marks another significant achievement for Karnataka. The state has consistently been a pioneer in technological advancements in India, and this occasion adds another notable accomplishment to its illustrious history.
