PM Modi to Inaugurate India's First-Ever ITU-WTSA Event
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the International Telecommunication Union-World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly (ITU-WTSA) 2024 at the Bharat Mandapam.
The Prime Minister will also unveil the eighth edition of India Mobile Congress 2024 during the programme, whose focus this year is 'The Future is Now'.
"A big day for the telecom sector! Tomorrow, at 10 am on October 15, the International Telecommunication Union-World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly and the India Mobile Congress 2024 will be inaugurated. These forums are very important, in which leading stakeholders from across the sector will meet, PM Modi said in a tweet".
About 3,000 industry leaders, policy-makers and tech experts from more than 190 countries representing the telecom, digital, and ICT sectors are expected to descend upon the Bharat Mandapam for participation in the ITU-WTSA.
"This historic meet marks an important watershed for India. We will drive the future of global standards, connect everyone in and showcase the breadth of our tech," said Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia, who added that "we must ensure innovation thrives not in isolation but in harmony".
Union Minister spoke about India's new success with its technology as it rolled out 5G across 36 states and union territories within a stint of just 22 months, covering 98 percent of all districts.
Union Minister Scindia also spoke about Global Stack-Unified Payment Interface (UPI), Aadhaar and DigiLocker, which stores about 6.75 billion documents and serves 300 million users.
"The roll-out of 5G is expected to inject $450 billion into the economy by 2040", the Minister told the gathering.
WTSA is the governing conference for the standardization work of the International Telecommunication Union, the United Nations Agency for Digital Technologies, organized every four years. For the first time in Asia and India, the ITU-WTSA is coming to the region, which is a pivotal global event gathering more than three thousand industry leaders, policy-makers and tech experts from over 190 countries representing the telecom, digital, and ICT sectors.
The ITU-WTSA event should give the country an opportunity to take a very important role in dictating the global agenda for telecom and also set the course for future technologies. Quite a few Indian startups and research institutions will be set on getting key insights into developing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Patents.
It is a fascinating blend of innovation with key telecom players and innovators coming to present the biggest advancements in Quantum technology and Circular Economy.
India Mobile Congress is Asia's largest digital technology forum providing a unique opportunity to participating members to demonstrate innovative solutions, services, and state-of-the art use cases for industry, government, academia, and start-ups.
An event featuring over 400 exhibitors and near about 900 startups from more than 120 countries showcasing their offerings and products. In addition, more than 900 technology use case scenarios would be demonstrated and more than 100 sessions and discussions with over 600 global and Indian speakers would be organized.
