PM Modi Emphasizes Youth Innovation on National Science Day
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his greetings on National Science Day, which is celebrated annually on February 28, to honor the renowned physicist C. V. Raman and his discovery of the Raman Effect. In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi highlighted the government's commitment to fostering research and innovation among the youth for the advancement of a developed India.
The Raman Effect, discovered by C. V. Raman on February 28, 1928, elucidates the scattering of photons when light encounters particles smaller than its wavelength. PM Modi explained that encouraging research and innovation is crucial for realizing the vision of a developed India.
In 1930, C. V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his groundbreaking discovery, marking India's first Nobel Prize in the field of science. Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, also extended greetings on National Science Day through a post on X, emphasizing the celebration of Sir C. V. Raman's legacy and the significance of the Raman Effect.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar highlighted the day as a reminder of India's rich scientific heritage and contributions to the global research and innovation ecosystem. He expressed the importance of inspiring future generations to excel in science and technology for a brighter and more prosperous future.
The theme for National Science Day this year is 'Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat' (developed India). Jitendra Singh, MoS for Science & Technology, mentioned that this year marks a new era and an opportunity for collaboration both domestically and internationally, contributing to the well-being of India and humanity as a whole.
