PM Modi Concludes 3-Day US Visit, Departs After Bilateral Talks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for India following a successful three-day visit to the United States, which featured a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Quad Leaders’ Summit and the UN Summit of the Future. The visit emphasized India’s diplomatic engagements with several global leaders, furthering the nation's international relations.
On the final day of his visit, Prime Minister Modi met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Vatican City’s Cardinal Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, in New York. The meetings took place during the Summit of the Future at the United Nations. Modi expressed his satisfaction with the discussion in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "Wonderful to have met Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia on the sidelines of the Summit of the Future at the UN earlier today".
The Prime Minister also noted his productive interaction with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, stating, "Had a great conversation with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See in New York".
In addition to these meetings, Prime Minister Modi held bilateral talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The discussion focused on India's continued commitment to peace and the peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s 'clear, consistent and constructive' stance, advocating for diplomacy and dialogue as the key to resolving the crisis. After the meeting, he reaffirmed India’s support for the early resolution of the conflict and the restoration of peace, stating, "We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations".
This meeting marks the third encounter between Modi and Zelensky within the past three months. The two leaders agreed to remain in close communication regarding the ongoing situation.
On the same day, Prime Minister Modi also met Vietnamese President To Lam. Following the meeting, Modi remarked that the discussions would provide new momentum for India-Vietnam relations, particularly in areas like connectivity, trade, and culture. He stated, “We took stock of the full range of India-Vietnam friendship”.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi also addressed the UN Summit of the Future, where he reiterated India’s commitment to global prosperity and human rights. He assured the world that India would continue to champion these causes through 'thought, words, and deeds'.
