PM Expected to Visit Pakistan on a Pilgrimage
Bangalore: Things seem to be changing between Pakistan and India. For the first time after Manmohan Sigh took charge of the state leadership, it seems that the PM would visit the neighborhood on a pilgrimage. If everything goes well, he will be the fourth Prime Minister to visit Pakistan. The invitation by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari after his personal pilgrim visit to India last month has reportedly inspired the Indian prime minster to think of a similar visit to Pakistan. Both the leaders had expressed their hope of a better relationship between the nations after Zardari’s last visit.
PM will have personal sentiments too for the visit since his birth place is in Gah village in Pakistan. He had also conveyed his longing desire to visit the birth place in certain occasions in the past. In 2006 there were all the chances of a Pakistan Visit by the PM for the 400thanniversary of Guru Arjun Dev but was dropped later.
The present visit is likely to happen during the birth anniversary celebrations (Gurpurab) of Guru Nanak. The birth place of Guru Nanak in Pakistan’s Punjab province and Panja Sahib, near Hasan Abdal, Rawalpindi where Guru Nanak’s ‘panja’ (hand) is imprinted, are the places the prime minister would possibly visit. These places are the prime attraction for all the Sikhs who stays across the globe.
There has been remarkable progress in the relationship between Pakistan and India recently; however, both the nations have to go a long way to establish a transparent relationship.
It was the religious fundamentalism that split both nations long back after the independence. Now, interestingly, some religious factors seem to be normalizing the relationship between both countries.
