'Plant A Sapling' Straight From The Ola App On World Environment Day



BENGALURU: In a bid to encourage citizens to protect and nurture the environment, Ola India’s leading mobile app for personal transportation, has launched a nationwide campaign called – ‘Plant a Sapling.’ The campaign will enable anyone from across the country to ‘plant a sapling’ using the Ola mobile app between the 4th and 8th June 2015. For every sapling planted by a user, Ola shall plant an additional sapling. All users who participate will also get a digital certificate mentioning the location of their sapling, which can help them identify their tree years later. This initiative is in association with Sustainable Green Initiative (SGI), an organization that has dedicatedly been working against climate change.

To plant a sapling, customers will have to go to the Ola Money section on the Ola app, apply the coupon code – GOGREEN and recharge for a sum of 100 per sapling. Ola will plant the sapling on behalf of the user through SGI, after which every user shall receive a digital certificate within 15 days with all details of the sapling planted.

Anand Subramanian, Director – Marketing Communications, Ola said, “To plant a sapling, is a simple gesture, and yet will go a long way in contributing to sustainable development of the environment. Millions of customers who use the Ola app can now do their bit by planting a sapling with a few taps on their smartphones, this World Environment Day! We encourage all our users to come forward and contribute towards making our surroundings greener!”

Ride a Bike Today:

Along with the ‘Plant a Sapling’ campaign, Ola announced one more initiative called ‘Ride a Bike Today’, where commuters in the cities of Chennai and Bangalore can reserve a bicycle using a new ‘Bike’ icon that will appear on the Ola app. They can then ride the bicycle instead of using their motored vehicles to show solidarity towards the cause. The bicycles will be offered free of cost.

To participate in the ‘Ride a bike today’ initiative, customers can click on the Bike icon on the Ola app between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on June 5. The activity will be conducted in Embassy Golf Links, Domlur and Manyata Tech Park in Bangalore and DLF IT Park, Rama Puram, in Chennai.
