Piyush Goyal Engages Top CEOs to Strengthen Trade and Tech Ties

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has intensified India’s international outreach with a series of high-level meetings with global CEOs, business leaders, and policymakers during his visit to the United States and other engagements abroad. The meetings highlighted India’s growing role as a hub for trade, investment, innovation, and sustainable growth.
In New York, Goyal met Stephen A. Schwarzman, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Blackstone, to review the firm’s investment plans in India, reflecting the confidence global investors continue to place in the country’s economy. He also held talks with Raj Subramaniam, President & CEO of FedEx, exploring collaboration in logistics, a sector that is rapidly expanding in India and strengthening the nation’s position in global supply chains.
Further deepening ties with key partners, Goyal met Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman & CEO of DP World, to discuss greater cooperation in logistics and infrastructure, while his meeting with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna centered on advancing technology partnerships and investing in emerging technologies, backed by India’s skilled workforce.
The minister also held discussions with leading global investors including Harvey Schwartz, CEO of Carlyle Group, and Chip Kaye, Chairman of Warburg Pincus, on expanding investments in India’s resilient economy. In addition, his meeting with Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, focused on collaboration to support India’s sustainable development goals and inclusive growth agenda.
At the ‘Session on Energy Security in a Shifting Global Landscape’, organised in New York by India in partnership with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and ReNew Power, Goyal emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of 'One Sun, One World, One Grid'. He highlighted India’s commitment to clean energy and the need for innovation and robust infrastructure to drive the global transition to renewables.
Goyal also engaged with Mukesh Aghi, President & CEO of USISPF, and Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, to explore ways of boosting bilateral trade and investment.
Currently, Goyal is in the United States leading advanced negotiations toward a comprehensive bilateral trade agreement. Accompanied by senior officials, including India’s Chief Negotiator Rajesh Agrawal, he is holding discussions covering trade and non-trade issues with American counterparts.
