The Pentagon affirmed that the United States has a very close defence relationship with India and is an important partner with whom they will continue to work closely

The Pentagon stated that the United States and India have a close defence relationship while dismissing questions regarding the latest joint military drills. During a news conference, Brig Gen Patrick Ryder, spokesperson for Pentagon, noted that India is a sovereign nation and may choose its own partners to conduct exercises. The conference also discussed India’s participation in the Vostok military exercise, which few people find a little concerning.

The multilateral Vostok 2022 strategic and command exercise conducted from September 1 to 7 aimed at coordination and contact between participating military contingents and observers. The Indian army contingent, including soldiers from the 7/8 Gorkha rifles, engaged in exercises like firepower drills, combat debates, and field training. They wanted to share real-world experiences, practice tested drills and procedures, and integrate new technology through discussions and tactical exercises.

Mr Ryder expressed that the US has appreciated the partnership with the Indian region and is an important partner and will continue to work closely together. He also added that the countries have a strong defence relationship and partnership. The US will remain to work with India and further advance the relationship.

The Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Department of Defence, is one of the most difficult places to access. Even American citizens are denied access to the building without high-level security clearances. To strengthen the bonds in the national security areas, India has now given unescorted access to the Pentagon, which commenced a close relationship with India as a major defence partner. This strategy is aligned with the trust and cooperation shared between the two countries.

US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall had previously stated that India is the country with whom the US performs more joint exercises than any other and has a long close relationship. The nations have been strengthening and building their relationship over the years as they work together for integrated deterrence in the regions and worldwide.
