P K Basumatary Assumes Leadership as Chief General Manager at Guwahati Refinery
Pradip Kumar Basumatary has assumed the role of Chief General Manager and Refinery Head at the Guwahati Refinery, owned by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), succeeding G K Goyari who recently superannuated. Basumatary, a mechanical engineering graduate from Assam Engineering College, officially took charge on March 1, as per a statement released by the company.
Prior to his current position, Basumatary held the position of Chief General Manager (Technical) at the Guwahati Refinery. The statement highlighted his extensive experience in refinery operations and maintenance, project commissioning, and managing fuel quality upgrade projects under the BS-VI regime.
Notably, Basumatary played a crucial role in enhancing the Guwahati Refinery's capacity to 1.2 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) in 2023. Additionally, he contributed to synchronizing the refinery's operations with the 132-KV grid power provided by the state government.
The appointment comes as the Guwahati Refinery continues its focus on operational excellence and strategic advancements. Basumatary's wealth of experience and background in mechanical engineering positions him as a valuable asset in steering the refinery's future endeavors.
As the new Chief General Manager and Refinery Head, Basumatary is expected to lead the facility through its ongoing projects, ensuring efficiency compliance with quality standards and contributing to the growth of the Guwahati Refinery under the stewardship of the Indian Oil Corporation.
