To create networking devices and smart home appliances in India, Noida-based Optiemus Electronics Ltd. (OEL) announced a strategic partnership with a US-headquartered, TP-Link. The announcement aligns itself with the ambitious initiative of Indian government's to reposition the nation as a globally prominent electronics as well as telecommunications manufacturing hub-'Make in India'.
Under the agreement, OEL will manufacture a wide range of telecom and IoT products, which include GPON (ONT), security cameras, home Wi-Fi routers, enterprise routers, modems, SOHO switches, and other network expansion devices. The devices will be manufactured at OEL's state-of-the-art facility in Noida, capable of producing up to six million units annually.
Production will start in February 2025, and the first products are expected to arrive in the country by March 2025. The collaboration intends to increase exports by promoting products for international markets.
On the tie-up, A. Gururaj, MD, Optiemus Electronics said, "We are looking forward to welcoming TP-Link, a world leader in networking devices into the fold, as part of our strategic direction of forming partnerships with global leaders".
The partnership reflects TP-Link's commitment to the 'Make in India' vision and will help strengthen the country's manufacturing capabilities in the electronics and telecom sectors. The companies also plan to develop a robust local supply chain for components such as power adapters and mechanical parts to reduce reliance on imports.
Sanjay Sehgal, Director and COO of TP-Link, said that this represented a good opportunity to meet this dynamic market with locally manufactured products in this country.
Optiemus's two state-of-the-art units in Noida envision the position that India will take in world electronics manufacturing while TP-Link is already present in over 170 countries around the globe with an international footprint.
