Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reportedly sit down with representatives of the multi-party delegations that were sent to 33 nations under India's international diplomatic outreach following the Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent launch of Operation Sindoor. The top-level meeting is likely to be held in New Delhi on June 9 or 10.
These delegations that included Members of Parliament across different parties, senior political leaders, and veteran diplomats were entrusted with projecting India's position on terrorism and rallying global opinion for its counter-terror efforts. Their visits were intended to strengthen India's global communication and mark the imperative for collective action against terrorism.
It has been reported that the delegations will submit detailed briefings to the Prime Minister, which will include key takeaways of their visits. These range from high-level interactions, strategic engagements, and the overall global reaction to India's stand on terrorism, national security, and stability in the region.
In a strong demonstration of political solidarity, the government had dispatched seven different delegations overseas. These were led by:
- Shashi Tharoor (Indian National Congress)
- Ravi Shankar Prasad (Bharatiya Janata Party)
- Sanjay Kumar Jha (Janata Dal United)
- Baijayant Panda (BJP)
- Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam)
- Supriya Sule (Nationalist Congress Party)
- Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena)
Meanwhile, Baijayant Panda's delegation, which toured Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Algeria, is to present its report to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at 2:30 PM today.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi will also chair the Union Council of Ministers meeting on June 4 at 4:30 PM. This would be the first review by the ministers following the initiation of Operation Sindoor.
