Nothing Phone CEO Playfully Advises Elon Musk on Opening Tesla Factory in India
In a lighthearted exchange on social media, Carl Pei Yu, CEO of Nothing Phone, had some humorous advice for Tesla's CEO Elon Musk regarding setting up a factory in India. This banter unfolded as Carl Pei prepares to launch 'Nothing Phone 2a' in India next month.
Pei playfully suggested that Musk should consider changing his username to "Elon Bhai" to facilitate the establishment of a Tesla factory in India. Amusingly, Carl Pei has already embraced the trend by changing his own Twitter username to ‘Carl Bhai’.
In a tweet directed at Elon Musk, Pei questioned, 'Elon Musk did you really think you could build a Tesla factory in India without changing your username to Elon Bhai?' The suggestion sparked a playful response from the Twitter community.
One user quipped, 'You are the Bhai, he will be the Mamu', while another added a regional touch, stating, "Depends on the location as well. If Gujarat then Elon Bhai, If Maharashtra then Elon Bhau, If Telangana then Elon Gaaru, If Haryana then Elon Tau, If Punjab then Elon Paaji, If Tamil Nadu then Elon Anna, If West Bengal then Elon Dada".
The banter continued as a third user humorously proposed, "Elon Dada would suit him well!" Another user even contributed to the jest, suggesting the username 'Elon Kaka'.
This exchange follows recent reports indicating Tesla's plans to enter the Indian market. The government is reportedly in the process of finalizing a policy to extend concessional import duties on electric cars. Currently, India imposes a 100% import duty on cars exceeding Rs 33 lakh in value and 60% for cars below that range. As Tesla navigates its entry into the Indian market, these light-hearted suggestions add a touch of humor to the anticipation surrounding Elon Musk's potential username change.
