New Rules For Train Tickets: Things You Need To Know
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has updated its rules regarding booking train tickets. Indian Railways has made changes to help travellers. It is the world's largest railway network. Tickets can now be booked 120 days in advance. Aadhaar-verified users can also book 12 tickets per month. Passengers can claim refunds when the train does not depart within 3 hours of its scheduled departure.
Booking train tickets online has revolutionized how people travel, offering convenience and accessibility. Online train ticket booking platforms are designed to accommodate passengers of all types - from commuters and long-distance travelers alike. The process typically begins by signing into their account on the booking website or app and logging in, after which users can search available trains by entering departure/destination stations along with dates/times/duration of travel; once selected, this platform then displays a list of trains including arrival times/departure times/travel duration duration/seat availability information..
Rules to Remember When Making Reservations -
- Users with a single ID can book six tickets per month, or 12 if Aadhaar is verified. They can book Two tickets maximum with a singleID between 8-10 am.
- Tatkal tickets are available for booking a day in advance, starting at 10 am for AC coaches or 11 am for sleeper classes.
- Only two Tatkal tickets per user ID can be booked in the opening Tatkal between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon.
- Tatkal bookings allow a maximum of 6 berths/seats to be booked for a specific journey between two stations that are served by the train, subject to any distance restrictions.
- In a single booking session, only one Tatkal ticket is allowed (except for the return journey).
Important Service Information-
- Service Availability- Single page or quick book service is unavailable between 8 AM and 12 PM.
- Login Session- Users are allowed only one login session at a time.

- Agents can book tickets from 8 am to 8.30 am, 10 am to 10.30 am, and 11 am to 11.30 am. Travel agents are not allowed to book Tatkal tickets during the first thirty minutes following online reservations, make sure to Check PNR Status to stay updated on your train details for a hassle-free travel experience.It is done to stop them from booking multiple tickets within a short time span and to give passengers the opportunity to book their own tickets.
- The time limit for Train Ticket Booking is now tougher. Standard time for entering passenger information is 25 seconds. Captcha input on the passenger details page and payment pages must be completed within 5 seconds.
- Subscribers of all banks must now verify their identity with an OTP (one-time password) before they can make a payment via net-banking.
- Passengers can now claim a refund:
- If the train does not depart within 3 hours of its scheduled departure.
- If the route of the train has been changed and you don't wish to travel on a different route.
- If a passenger is shifted into a lower class than the one booked on the ticket, he/she can refuse to travel in that class. If a passenger agrees to travel in a lower class, they will receive the difference amount.
Railways also allow you to transfer your confirmed ticket to another passenger if you are unable to travel. The Chief Reservation Supervisors are authorized to allow a change of name 24 hours prior to the departure time of the train. Tickets can be transferred from one family member to another, including parents, siblings, children, spouses, and husbands.
