Navy Chief Launch Swavlamban-2024 Exhibition, Promotes Indigenization
The third edition of the Indian Navy's Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Seminar, Swavlamban – 2024, commenced in New Delhi. The Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, inaugurated the two-day event at Bharat Mandapam.Reports are in that Swavlamban – 2024 is aimed at promoting the innovation and indigenisation endeavours of the Indian Navy. Several companies and start-ups are participating in the Swavalamban 2024 showcasing products of niche technologies such as air and surface surveillance, autonomous systems in surface, aerial, and underwater domains, AI, and quantum technologies.
Speaking on this occasion, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi highlighted the contribution of young entrepreneurs in promoting innovation and research. He said, around 115 stalls have been set up by various agencies. He said the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force and others are participating in the event.
Speaking to Akashvani News, one of the participants Anshuman Chatterjee lauded the government’s Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) initiative. He described the unique features of the Naval Shipborne Unmanned Aerial System.
Thus far, in the two editions released, the Swavlamban have seen responses from more than 2000 proposals submitted by the Indian industry, which then get transformed into 155 challenge statements aimed towards creating prototypes. Through this endeavour, the engagement of the iDEX Scheme with over 200 MSMEs and start-ups have also been brought forward.
