Munish Sharda has been appointed as the Executive Director of Axis Bank
Axis Bank has announced that Munish Sharda has been appointed as the bank's Whole-time Director, including Executive Director, for a period of three years starting from November or the date of approval of his appointment by the Reserve Bank of India. Sharda, who is currently the Group Executive and head of Bharat Banking of Axis Bank Limited, will be liable to retire by rotation. The Mumbai-based bank's board of directors has approved Sharda's appointment.
As part of his current role since September 2021, he is responsible for driving business growth in rural and semi-urban markets by offering all banking products. With over 25 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector, he brings a wealth of leadership experience to the table. He has a proven track record in scaling businesses, utilizing digital and technological tools to drive business outcomes, building employee capabilities, and improving customer experience.
Sharda has worked at Citi Group and also served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Future Generali India Life Insurance Company Limited for over seven years. The bank also stated that he has experience in the consumer goods industry having worked with Blow Plast Limited, as well as in the engineering sector with Larsen & Toubro Limited.
