The Neighbor Issue

The Chemistry between India and its neighbor, Pakistan is going through a rough patch. PM Modi remained hopeful about the relationship between India and Pakistan, but certain issues like terrorist infiltrations in the border and army confrontations keep the two countries away from stability.

Black Money

Despite the opposition, Parliament under NDA passed the Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets (Imposition of Tax), 2015, dealing with illicit money stashed in foreign banks abroad, providing for separate taxation of any undisclosed foreign income or assets. The issue of black money is slowly being worked upon. Several banks abroad have started to commit to the India’s vision of corruption free country. About $1.4 trillion black money is stashed abroad distributed in several banks.

Land Bill

Land Acquisition Bill though intended to boost economic growth in India it is at the cost of farmer’s cultivable land. The Modi government eased the norms and lowered the cut-off limit of compensation, but farmers still committed suicide under stress. The Bill would also bring changes to acquisition of land for private companies mentioned in LARR Act 2013 to acquisition for ‘private entities.’ Whereas, a private entity may include companies, corporations and non-profit organizations.
