Hamilton Housewares, the parent company of Milton, has appointed Somasree Bose Awasthi as its new Business Unit Head. A seasoned FMCG leader, Somasree brings more than two decades of experience across personal care, home care, hair care and edible oils, having managed businesses worth over Rs 7,500 crore.

Before joining Milton, she served as the Chief Marketing Officer at Marico Limited. During her time there, she played a key role in strengthening market share, improving brand positioning and launching new products such as the Parachute Advanced Baby range and Saffola Cold Pressed Oil. She also set up long-term strategic processes, including market mix modeling, innovation pipelines and brand activation frameworks that supported Marico’s growth.

Somasree’s career began at Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (GCPL), where she spent more than 15 years in various leadership roles. She advanced from Area Sales Manager in West Bengal to CMO India, managing some of India’s most recognized brands like Cinthol, HIT, Good Knight, Parachute and Saffola. At GCPL, she was known for leading large-scale innovations, including the creation of Godrej Protekt Mr Magic, India’s first powder-to-liquid handwash. Her contributions earned multiple awards for brand excellence and innovation within the Godrej Group.

At Milton, Somasree will oversee business strategy, brand development and category expansion as the company sharpens its focus on growth and product innovation.
