Milind Soman Nails Toughest Triathlon, Wins Ironman Title

BANGALORE: Just a few months away from turning 50, model and actor Milind Soman doesn’t seize to be the heart throb of many youngsters. The model proved his toughness earning himself the ‘Ironman’ title at a triathlon held in Zurich in Switzerland on July 19, reports Indian Express.
Over 2,000 people participated in this triathlon organized by World Triathalon Corporation. Seven Indians took part in this triathlon which is considered one of the toughest races in the world.
To bag the title of an Ironman, participants are required to complete a 3.8km swim, a 180.2km cycle ride and 42.2km run within a time span of 16 hours.
“If you are sufficiently aware and monitor your body’s response at every stage in terms of nutrition and pace, it will all come together. I wanted to gift myself something special in my 50th birthday and I am glad I could achieve this,” says Soman. The actor was able to complete the triathlon in 15 hours 19 minutes.
“The challenge was to complete the cycling segment in less than eight hours since it is a new activity for me and there was a cut-off time to adhere to. The swim in Lake Zurich was great and the 42km run is something that I have been doing for years,” he added.
Soman had been practicing for the event since few months and has posted pictures of the preparations on the web.
