Microsoft announces new features for Outlook Lite, SMS support for Indian users
Microsoft has announced new features in Outlook Lite, which now includes SMS support for Indian users. Additionally, Outlook Lite has added support for Indian vernacular languages, which allows users to communicate more effectively. To cater to the diverse linguistic needs of Indian users, Outlook Lite offers features such as voice typing, transliteration, and the ability to read emails in regional languages. This makes it easier for users to compose and read emails in their preferred language.
"With SMS integration and vernacular language support, Outlook Lite redefines communication accessibility and provides users with a more convenient & personalized experience," Rajiv Kumar, MD, Microsoft India Development Centre and Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Experiences and Devices, India Group, said in a statement.
Outlook Lite is a useful tool for Indian users who want to communicate in their native languages. Whether they prefer to dictate an email in Hindi, type an email in Tamil and have it automatically converted to English, or read an email in Gujarati, Outlook Lite can assist them in doing so. The application currently supports five Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Gujarati, and plans to add more in the future. Microsoft is committed to catering to the linguistic diversity of India by continually adding more languages and dialects to the application.
Additionally, Outlook Lite now offers SMS support that simplifies how users receive transactional and promotional information. With this feature, users will have access to a unified and smart inbox that organizes messages into categories such as transactions, promotions and personal messages. Users can easily switch between these categories and view relevant messages all in one place. This feature also includes reminders for important appointments, travel bookings, bill payments, and gas booking reminders, which typically get lost in the midst of information overload. Outlook Lite will also soon support language translation for SMS, allowing users to read messages in their preferred language or switch between languages with a single tap.
