MG Motor India Partners with HPCL to Expand EV Charging Infrastructure

MG Motor India has announced a strategic partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) to bolster the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the country. According to a statement from MG Motor, this collaboration will see the installation of 50kW/60kW DC fast chargers at key locations, including highways and cities, to enhance the convenience for EV users.
The initiative aims to support long-distance and intercity travel by increasing the availability of fast charging solutions. "HPCL's vast network and significant presence in India will ensure that existing and prospective EV users across the country have convenient access to our charging solutions", said Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at MG Motor India.
HPCL, which operates a nationwide network of over 22,000 fuel stations, is committed to promoting a sustainable future by offering green fuel options. Rajdip Ghosh, HPCL's Chief General Manager of Highway Retailing, emphasized the company's dedication to expanding its EV infrastructure. "Through this partnership with MG Motor India, HPCL shall leverage the vehicle base of MG to increase the utilisation of its chargers installed across India", Ghosh stated.
Additionally, HPCL has set an ambitious target of installing 5,000 electric vehicle charging stations by December 2024. This collaboration is expected to significantly contribute to this goal, fostering a more robust and accessible EV charging network across the nation.
The partnership between MG Motor India and HPCL marks a significant step towards enhancing the EV ecosystem in India, promoting sustainable transportation, and addressing the growing demand for EV infrastructure.
