MCA Launches 3,100 Paid Internships Under Prime Minister Internship Scheme
Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has also released more than 3,100 paid internship opportunities in software development and information and technology (IT) through the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS). These internships, brought in partnership with India's premier companies, provide budding professionals with practical industry experience and worthwhile network opportunities.
"The Prime Minister Internship Scheme offers more than 3,100 internships in IT and software development with India's best companies", MCA said on social media platform X. The scheme operates across different sectors such as information/cybersecurity, sales and marketing, finance, and accounting, providing a holistic platform for young professionals to advance their skills and gain real-world insights.
Interns under the program will be given a monthly financial support of Rs 5,000, and a one-time support of Rs 6,000. Interns who complete the 12-month internship successfully will be given a certificate, which will enhance their career opportunities. The program, unveiled as part of the Union Budget 2024-25, requires the top 500 firms to offer internship opportunities to one crore youth in the next five years.
The programme is for those in the age group 21-24 who are either not pursuing a full-time course of study or employed, inviting fresh graduates as well as candidates looking for opportunities to begin a career. Thus far, more than 300 top firms cutting across industries ranging from oil and gas to banks, travel to automobiles, manufacturing to FMCG and beyond have agreed to extend internship offers.
The MCA recently invited applications for Round 2 of the pilot phase, after receiving an overwhelming response of more than six lakh applications in Round 1. Round 2 provides over one lakh internship opportunities in 730 districts across the country. Eligible candidates can select internships according to their desired district, state, sector, and field, with the option to filter within a customisable radius of their location. Every candidate may submit an application for a maximum of three internships before the application deadline.
This program is set to bridge the gap between the academia and the industry, equipping young talent with the necessary skills and experience to succeed in a competitive employment market.
