Markets Set for Positive Start Amid RBI Policy, Trade Deal Buzz

Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are expected to start Monday’s session on a positive note despite mixed global trends. At 7:44 AM, GIFT Nifty futures were up 108.5 points at 24,813.5, indicating a strong opening.
This week, investors will focus on the RBI’s monetary policy outcome, updates on the India-US trade deal, developments around US tariffs, and key global and domestic macroeconomic data.
In Asian trade, Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.88 percent, South Korea’s Kospi gained 1.2 percent, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was up 1 percent. On Wall Street, the Nasdaq rose 0.44 per cent, the S&P 500 gained 0.6 per cent, while the Dow Jones declined 0.65 per cent last Friday after the release of inflation data.
Here are the stocks to watch today:
Tata Motors: The automobile giant has named Shailesh Chandra as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for three years, effective October 1, 2025. Dhiman Gupta has been appointed as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer.
Oil India: Oil India has discovered natural gas at its Vijayapuram-2 exploratory well in the Andaman Shallow Offshore Block. Initial tests have confirmed gas inflows, with further studies underway to gauge the full capacity of the discovery.
Jindal Steel: Jindal Steel has commissioned the Bhagavati Subhadrika Blast Furnace-II at its Angul plant. This doubles its hot metal capacity to 9 MTPA, making it India’s largest single-location steel facility.
Alkem Laboratories: The pharmaceutical firm has signed a Business Transfer Agreement with its subsidiary Alkem Wellness. Effective October 1, its trade generics business will shift to Alkem Wellness on a slump sale basis.
Shriram Finance: The NBFC has infused Rs 300.05 crore into its wholly-owned unit, Shriram Overseas, by subscribing to 19.02 million equity shares via a rights issue. This investment is aimed at strengthening its capital base.
Lemon Tree Hotels: The hospitality company has made leadership changes. Neelendra Singh has been appointed Managing Director, and Kapil Sharma will take charge as Executive Director and CFO, both for a five-year term. Patanjali Govind Keswani has been named Executive Director and Chairman for 18 months.
Godrej Agrovet: The agri-business firm has signed a non-binding MoU with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to invest Rs 960 crore in manufacturing, processing, and research facilities.
BEML: BEML has entered into a tripartite MoU with Bharat Forge and Data Patterns (India) to jointly bid for the DRDO-designed Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme.
Azad Engineering: The company has secured a long-term contract worth $73.47 million (Rs 651 crore) with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Japan, for turbine engine components. With a previous deal signed in November 2024, the total contract value now stands at $156.36 million (Rs 1,387 crore).
