Marina Shaikh: Empowering Vulnerable Communities through The Rising World Foundation

Marina Shaikh, the Founder and Chairperson of The Rising World Foundation (RWF), has emerged as a driving force in relieving the impact of COVID-19 on India's most vulnerable communities. With a strong background in social organization and philanthropy, Marina has dedicated herself to providing aid and support to those in need.

Marina's journey in social work began in Brussels, where she worked under the guidance of former European Parliament member Nirj Deva. Starting as an intern, Marina quickly proved her capabilities and rose through the ranks to become a special assistant and eventually an advisor. Her time at the European Parliament allowed her to develop her skills as a social organizer and gain international experience.

During her tenure, Marina became a vital operator for the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE). Representing ACRE as a delegate, she attended conferences in Turkey, Armenia, Italy, and the United States. Additionally, Marina contributed to critical humanitarian projects, such as the Praksis Organisation in Athens, Greece. Through Praksis, she collaborated with charities and government representatives to provide essential economic, social, and medical assistance to vulnerable populations across Europe.

Marina's unwavering commitment to her home country led her to assume the role of Director General for India within ACRE. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Marina decided to forge her own path by establishing the RWF. In a short span of time, the RWF has become one of India's leading organizations in COVID-19 relief efforts.

Under Marina's exemplary leadership, the RWF has made a significant impact by distributing meal ration kits and sanitation supplies to thousands of people across India. The Foundation's proactive approach and dedication to helping the most vulnerable communities have earned it widespread recognition and support.

Marina Shaikh's vision and determination have allowed her to bring her political and humanitarian expertise back to her homeland. Through the RWF, she continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by the pandemic. Her inspiring work serves as a testament to the power of compassion, resilience, and the ability to affect change in challenging times.

The Rising World Foundation is currently running a fundraiser to empower women: Pad Empowerment Project in India. It aims to empower women economically and provide access to feminine hygiene products. India has both low female labor force participation rates and limited usage of sanitary pads. The project will raise funds to purchase sanitary products and provide menstrual education and sales training in Indore, Gwalior, and Piploda. Women in the program will receive entrepreneurship and menstrual health education and sell affordable sanitary pads in communities with limited resources. This initiative offers women the chance to develop sales skills, earn income, combat menstrual hygiene stigma, and support their community.
