Mappls Launches Live Signal Timers and Toll Savings Features

• First app in India to show real time traffic signal countdowns
• Covers 125+ smart signals in Bengaluru, with rollout to other cities coming
• Adds NHAI toll savings info to help users manage highway travel costs

Mappls, the flagship navigation app by MapmyIndia, has rolled out two new India first features aimed at making commuting smarter and more efficient. The app now shows live traffic signal countdowns and provides users with toll cost saving insights, a first-of-its-kind move in Indian navigation tech.

In collaboration with Bengaluru Traffic Police and global firm Arcadis, Mappls has integrated real time signal timers for over 125 smart traffic signals in Bengaluru. Drivers can now view red, amber, and green light countdowns up to 500 metres in advance, helping them reduce stops, anticipate delays, and improve ETA accuracy.

“This is a major milestone in smart mobility. It’s the first time in India that real time signal data is being shown inside a navigation app”, said the company. The feature will expand to more cities in the coming months.

Mappls has also introduced a new feature tied to the NHAI Annual Toll Pass, showing users how much they could save on tolls. The app now tracks exact distance travelled on toll roads, giving commuters better budgeting and travel transparency.

Currently available on iOS, these features will launch on Android soon.
