Maju Varghese is the New COO of NED
Maju Varghese has previously served as the COO and senior advisor for the Biden Campaign and executive director of the Presidential Inaugural Committee.
FREMONT, CA: Maju Varghese was named the new Chief Operating Officer of The National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Previously, Varghese served as the deputy assistant to the president and director of the White House Office, overseeing over 3,000 military and civilian personnel and ensuring the essential services for the routine and global functioning of the presidency. In the press conference announcing Varghese’s appointment, NED President and CEO Damon Wilson said that Varghese’s long-standing operational, managerial, and legal experience and success in serving on complex, high-profile, and demanding posts make him a great asset to the organization when it is aiming for rapid growth and change. He went on to say that Maju Varghese is a consummate professional who brings integrity and generosity to every interaction he was with people. His experience as the son of Indian immigrants, leadership, and commitment to NED’s democratic missions will be critical for the organization’s efforts in supporting those who are struggling on the frontlines of democracy globally.
Maju Varghese has previously served as the COO and senior advisor for the Biden Campaign and executive director of the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Over the past couple of years, Varghese has held multiple leadership roles in the Obama-Biden administration. A lawyer by training, Maju has worked as a senior advisor at Dentons, COO at Hub Project, and an associate at Wade Clark Mulcahy, a New York-based law firm.
