Maggi Noodles Back in Stores, Partners with Snapdeal
BANGALORE: Nestle is a geared up to unload large amounts of its popular masala version of its noodle from today onwards, after months of the government banned following reports that cautioned contained high level of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) found in it, reports India Today
Suresh Narayan, CMD, Nestle India tweeted "Delighted to hand over Maggi Noodles to consumers to whom it belongs". The company has now tied hands with e-tailer site Snapdeal for its relaunch. However the Swiss giant Nestle cited that their product will not be sold in 8 states as the banned of their product hasn’t been lifted as of yet.
The company has now begun its manufacture of Maggi in three separate plants in India after it received clearance by the Bombay High Court.
Nestle India cited “We have received test results from all three laboratories mandated by the Bombay High Court to test Maggi Noodles samples. All the 90 samples, covering six variants, tested by these laboratories are clear with lead much below the permissible limits".
Previously the company suffered a massive blow after the crisis which followed a nationwide ban on its instant noodles product. By the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) the popular noodles was cited to contain large amounts of "unsafe and hazardous" lead. a month later Nestle was forced to order a recall of Maggi. The company suffered a major hit of Rs 450 crore which included destroying over 30,000 tonnes of the noodle products. The company further stated that it will carry on with its existing formula of the product in which its ingredients will remain the same.
