Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today inaugurated the 28th edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025 (BTS 2025), spotlighting the state’s ambition to become a global technology hub. This year’s summit, themed ‘Futurise’, is set to bring together global leaders, policymakers, investors, tech startups, and innovators across sectors such as deep tech, biotech and health tech, semiconductors, and startup innovation.
The inauguration also marked the launch of KEO (Knowledge-driven, Economical, Open-source), an affordable AI-ready computer developed by the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (KEONICS). Designed to run AI applications locally, KEO eliminates dependency on cloud services and is initially aimed at grassroots AI education. Officials described it as part of a broader initiative for 'accessible, locally adaptable, home-grown computing'.
The three-day summit is expected to host over 80 knowledge sessions and more than 5,000 curated meetings, attracting participants from across India and 60 other countries. Siddaramaiah was joined by Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil, IT Minister Priyank Kharge, and industry leaders including Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalkrishnan.
Notable international delegates include Nicholas Reece, Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Australia; Rafal Rosinski, Deputy Minister of Digitisation, Poland, Ilse Aigner, President of the Bavarian State Parliament, Germany, and Jan Christian Vestre, Minister of Health and Care Services, Norway.
Speaking at the inauguration, CM Siddaramaiah highlighted Karnataka’s ambitions under the Tech Policy 2025-30, aiming to capture 50% of India’s space technology market and 5% globally by 2034. The summit will feature ten focused conference tracks covering IT and deep tech, electronics and semiconductors, digital health, biotech, the India-USA Tech Conclave, and global startup collaboration. Sub-tracks will include sessions on artificial intelligence, defence, space technology, Finverse, and women in leadership.
BTS 2025 underscores Karnataka’s growing prominence as a technology and innovation hub, showcasing initiatives that combine local ingenuity with global collaboration.
