During the DriEV.Bharat event at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, JSW MG Motor India launched several initiatives to bolster the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in India. The company unveiled new technologies aimed at accelerating EV adoption and enhancing overall infrastructure, including projects focused on new charging platforms and the reuse of EV batteries. Additionally, the automaker announced a partnership with Reliance Jio to introduce in-car entertainment solutions, which will be installed in all MG vehicles.
JSW MG Motor India is a joint venture between India’s JSW Group and China-based SAIC Motor, which sells internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and electric vehicles in India. At this event, we presented MG’s eHUB for the first time. It is a platform designed to simplify electric vehicle charging infrastructure by providing a single platform developed by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
JSW MG Motor India asserts that the eHUB simplifies planning an electric trip by offering an easy process to locate, book, and pay for charging stations. To accomplish this, they have partnered with major players including Adani Total Energies Limited (ATEL), BPCL, Chargezone, Glida, HPCL, and Jio-BP. The eHUB MG app, available in 11 languages, also features a trip-planning tool and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and App Store.
The REVIVE project was also presented at this event. With this, JSW MG Motor India plans to reuse old electric vehicle batteries to power schools and community centers. The company is working with the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and lithium-ion battery manufacturer ROHM to reuse healthy battery components. The company said it is conducting a trial in a school in Mukteshwar.
Amid the global excitement about artificial intelligence (AI), JSW MG Motor India has introduced an AI chatbot named eVir. This development is part of the EVPEDIA experience, designed to offer comprehensive information on electric vehicles. It includes tools and calculators for determining operating costs, as well as research articles, publications, and government policies on EVs. The information will be delivered through interactive displays, educational videos, and live demonstrations. According to the company, AI chatbots provide a convenient solution for addressing drivers' questions on the go.
JSW MG Motor India has announced a partnership with Reliance Jio to launch the innovative MG-Jio Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP). This platform is designed to cater to the entertainment, gaming, and learning needs of drivers. The technology stack includes the MG Store, Car App Store, and voice commands available in six Indian languages. Additionally, it offers a home-to-car feature, enabling users to monitor and control vehicle systems such as locking/unlocking, interior temperature, and fuel level directly from their homes.
