JSW Group's Sajjan Jindal Announces Rs 1.2 Trillion Investment Plan for Karnataka

JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal reaffirmed the company’s strong commitment to Karnataka by announcing an investment of Rs 1.2 lakh crore at the Invest Karnataka 2025 summit. The investment, spanning steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, and paints, aims to strengthen the state's industrial and economic landscape while generating thousands of employment opportunities.
Speaking at the summit, Jindal said, “I am proud to announce that today we are signing an MoU of Rs 1 lakh crore, and including ongoing investments, JSW will be investing close to Rs 1.2 lakh crore in Karnataka over the next few years. As a long-term investor in the state, I can confidently say that Karnataka offers unparalleled opportunities for businesses to thrive”.
Highlighting Karnataka as his karmabhoomi, Jindal emphasized JSW’s deep-rooted association with the state, where the group has already invested over Rs 1.2 lakh crore and created more than 100,000 jobs. He credited Karnataka’s progressive governance, skilled workforce, and investor-friendly policies for fostering a conducive business environment.
Key Investments by JSW in Karnataka:
- Steel: Rs 43,000 crore to expand Vijayanagar into the world’s largest and most advanced steel plant, integrating AI, robotics, and high-quality electrical steel production.
- Energy: Rs 56,000 crore towards renewable energy, accelerating Karnataka’s transition to solar, wind, and green hydrogen.
- Infrastructure: Rs 4,350 crore to enhance Mangalore port capacity and develop a 30 MTPA port at Keni village.
- Cement: Rs 950 crore to expand JSW Cement’s Karnataka capacity by 4 MTPA, reinforcing sustainable cement production.
- Paints: Rs 500 crore to double JSW Paints’ capacity in Karnataka from 1.6 lakh KL to 3 lakh KL.
Beyond industrial investments, JSW Group reaffirmed its commitment to Karnataka’s socio-economic development. The JSW Foundation continues its initiatives in education, healthcare, skill development, and environmental conservation. Additionally, projects like Hampi by Night and Hampi Art Labs aim to enhance Karnataka’s cultural and heritage appeal on a global scale.
Jindal concluded with the vision; “Make in Karnataka, Make for India, Make for the World”, underscoring JSW Group’s role in driving Karnataka’s transformation into a global industrial powerhouse.
