Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, JP Nadda, inaugurated the Inter-AIIMS Referral Portal today, an indigenously created digital platform by AIIMS New Delhi to facilitate patient referrals within the AIIMS network. The pilot initiative will begin connecting AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Bilaspur, paving the way for a countrywide rollout.
The portal uses advanced technologies such as facial recognition and automated workflow to provide an efficient, safe, and transparent referral system. Intended to cut waiting times and eliminate manual errors, the platform vows to raise the level of overall patient satisfaction and introduce more efficiency in healthcare provision.
"Through the strength of technology, we can revolutionize the health sector and improve the lives of millions", Nadda said, highlighting the vision of the government for a streamlined and inclusive healthcare system.
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, pilot phase will serve as an important testing ground to refine operating protocols and address the issues encountered in the real world. The ultimate aim is to establish a completely integrated national referral system that would link all the AIIMS institutions.
The system allows authorized medical staff to effectively handle slot bookings, follow institutional guidelines, and have smooth communication. It also empowers patients by offering more transparency and convenience in the referral process.
Moreover, the portal is also integrated with the current online system for booking Vishram Sadan accommodation so that patients can access affordable and comfortable accommodation during their treatment.
JP Nadda underscored the government's ongoing drive towards innovation in public healthcare. "This effort embodies our quest for transparency, efficiency, and access to healthcare", he stated.
Through this launch, the Ministry looks to redefine coordination between institutions and build a solid foundation for an increasingly patient-focused national healthcare system.
