Jewar Airport Set to Take Off as India?s First 100% FDI Aviation Hub
  • Developed by Zurich Airport AG, Jewar sets a benchmark in foreign investment in Indian infrastructure.
  • Rapid rail, metro extension, and PRT system to connect the airport seamlessly.
  • Six runways, 225M annual capacity, and access via five expressways across North India.

India is set to announce a revolutionary aviation initiative Noida International Airport, or Jewar Airport for Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Constructed on a vast 1,334-hectare site, this is the nation's first 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) project in the aviation sector, led by Zurich International Airport AG and implemented by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Currently, one runway and a terminal are ready for operations, marking significant progress in Phase 1. Once fully completed, the airport will boast six runways and six terminals, with a massive annual passenger handling capacity of 225 million. In contrast, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is already operating at full capacity with 80 million passengers annually making Jewar critical for relieving NCR congestion and serving as a global aviation gateway for India.

Strategically positioned only 700 meters from the Yamuna Expressway, Jewar Airport will provide complete multimodal connectivity. It will be linked to key national expressways such as the Delhi–Mumbai, Lucknow–Agra, Ganga, and Meerut–Prayagraj expressways. Road travel from Jaipur to the airport will be just 2 hours and 21 minutes, according to YEIDA CEO Arunvir Singh.

To facilitate last-mile connectivity, the project also incorporates future infrastructure like a rapid rail corridor, extension of Noida Metro, and a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system transforming Jewar into an airport, as well as a hub of connectivity for the future.
