IT Vendors Should Recognize Necessities of MSMEs

Bangalore: "Profiling of requirements and evaluating the computer literacy in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises before implementation of their products must be taken up by all IT vendors. IT vendors fail to sell off their products to SMEs as they are not able to explain how their solutions can help them to enhance productivity and improve their business," said Gulshan Haresh Bakhtiani, Director, Lilac Insights, a provider of wellness products in a speech at the 'India Product Conclave 2011', organized by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom). Gulshan also added that the vendors fall short on explaining how their solutions work in accord with various circumstances. "Do it dirty but do it fast", should be the motto of an organization while reaching the needs of their customers, says another speaker, Shailesh Patil, Director of Mumbai-based travel company Kesari. The customer is too impatient to wait, so to hook them, the company must reach them at an instant. "India is an atypical market, where emotions are prone to be vital. So the companies have to connect with customers emotionally in order to win their trust and further which can be converted into good business." says Shailesh. He feels that MSMEs require developing an emotional bonding with their customers to triumph their ventures. The companies should have an access to computer literacy in their firms as majority of workers are unaware its sophisticated operation. "The comical element is that the workers learn all the shortcomings and flaws of the system before they could learn the working mechanism of solutions," Gulshan. According to Shailesh productivity can be improved with the help of IT. "Indian MSMEs should make the most of IT as it is too vital to improve the productivity in businesses and help them pick up the pace for growth. We use several IT solutions so that we connect with our customers 24x7. As we have developed our own IT products, we are not dependant on any IT vendor for software and hardware solutions." Shailesh wrote the first software for his company himself and he feels that business owners should be proud of having their own softwares. Business can turn more efficient with an introduction of softwares to it. Kumar Vembu, Founder of GoFrugal Technologies, who took part in the program as a moderator said IT vendors ought to become skilled at the art of convincing, in order to win more customers in India.
