ISRO Delays Space Docking Experiment Again
Again ISRO has postponed the much-anticipated Space Docking Experiment, SpaDEx, due to excessive drift in maneuvering. SpaDEx initially slated for January 9, 2025, has been further delayed as the organization could not find the closest proximity between the two satellites involved.
ISRO posted on a social media platform, 'X,''While doing the maneuver to take to 225 meters between the satellites, the drift was found more than that expected, after the non-visibility period. The planned docking for tomorrow stands rescheduled. Satellites are safe. Stay tuned for updates. This is the second delay in the mission. The space agency had earlier postponed the experiment from January 7 to January 9.
The Space Docking Experiment, known as SpaDEx, is one of ISRO's primary projects. Through this experiment, ISRO demonstrates the technology used in rendezvous, docking, and undocking between two small satellites. "The successful outcome of SpaDEx will establish India's indigenous capability in space docking, thereby paving the way for satellite servicing, space station operations, and interplanetary explorations, among others", adds ISRO.
