Israeli Defense Firms Unveil Advanced Drone Countermeasures at India Seminar
An event aimed at strengthening security cooperation between India and Israel in countering drone threats took place from September 2 to 4, according to an official statement released. During the seminar, nine Israeli defense companies presented advanced technologies to address these threats. The event saw participation from representatives and senior officials from Israel's Ministry of Defense, economic and security attaches, as well as officials from India's Ministry of Defence, along with members of both nations' defense and civilian industries, according to the Israeli Embassy's statement.
The seminar centered on 'tackling the escalating drone threat', addressing both security and criminal concerns, which present a major challenge for global security forces due to drones' capabilities for intelligence gathering, carrying weapons, and executing precise attacks, the statement noted. During the event, nine Israeli defense companies displayed cutting-edge technologies designed to counter these threats. Operational experiences were shared, and advanced technological solutions were highlighted, with the goal of strengthening security cooperation between Israel and India, according to the statement.
The Directorate for Defense Exports at the Israeli Ministry of Defense (SIBAT), in collaboration with the Israel Economic and Commercial Mission in New Delhi, the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Israel Export Institute, the Israeli Embassy in India, the Indian Ministry of Defense and SIDM (Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers) held the seminar in Delhi to "enhance security cooperation between Israel and India in combating drone threat", it said.
D-Fend Solutions, Septier, and Sentrycs showcased Cyber Radio Frequency (CRF)-based systems designed to detect, locate, and neutralize drones. Smart Shooter presented intelligent fire control systems for small arms, aimed at intercepting drones. ThirdEye Systems highlighted AI-powered vision and robotics technologies for detecting and identifying drones and small aircraft, the statement added.
"ELTA Systems, Rafael, Elbit Systems and Skylock exhibited solutions based on sensors, radars, electronic warfare and communication systems for detecting, identifying and neutralizing drones", the statement said. The second day of the seminar focused on fostering business synergies between the industries of both nations, aimed at exploring partnerships that leverage Israeli defense and dual-use technologies to tackle the rising drone threats in both defense and civilian applications, the statement said.
On the final day, an Israeli delegation conducted site visits to major Indian entities to gain insights into current and emerging drone threats. The seminar provided a valuable platform to highlight Israeli companies' advanced technologies, enhance security collaboration between Israel and India, and foster joint solutions to address security challenges, the statement added.
"Israeli technologies, particularly in the field of homeland security, are highly regarded in India and generate significant interest from both public and private entities. The recent seminar, which facilitated over 150 business meetings, is a testament to the strong demand for these technologies. We will continue to support Israeli companies in their endeavours in India until we see these promising opportunities translate into business partnerships that will strengthen the security and relations of both Israel and India", Economic Counsellor at Israel Embassy, Natasha Zangin, was quoted as saying in the statement.
