IRCTC Ties Up With KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway In The Pipeline

BENGALURU: The passengers of Indian Railways, can finally get rid of the same old pantry food to some of the leading fast food chains. Dominos who were the first ones to tie-up with IRCTC are now followed by KFC to serve consumers on trains, reports TOI.
Currently the facility is available only for 12 trains passing through New Delhi, but it will be soon be expanded to Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad (Kacheguda) and Bangalore (Yeshwantpur) stations over the next 10 days.
The initial service is limited to non-pantry trains, but subsequently will be made available to Rajdhani and Duronto in the coming days.
To avail this -catering services, consumers will have to login to the IRCTC website or dial a toll free number to get their food order placed.
The Indian Railways operates around 12,500 passenger trains every day with nearly 1.3 crore passengers, whereas the largest burger chain in india Mc Donalds, manages to serve only 32 lakh consumers annually, so it is quite a task to get through.
"It's still early days and we will take time to scale up," Dhruv Kaul, CMO at KFC India, said. "The sheer number of people that travel by train is an interesting proposition for us."
It is also said that food chains like Pizza hut, subway are likely to tie up with IRCTC in the coming days to enhance the e-catering service.
