International Women's Day 2025: Celebrating Women, Infinite Forces of Change

Empowering Rural Women Entrepreneurs

Recently, on 6th March 2025, DBS Bank India, along with Haqdarshak, launched a report that outlined the spending behavior and dreams of rural women entrepreneurs in India, just before International Women's Day 2025. The survey among 411 women entrepreneurs from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan 402 of whom belong to Self-Help Groups (SHGs)  finds that 90 percent of respondents save a fraction of their monthly earnings regularly, with 100 percent in Madhya Pradesh, 95 percent in Maharashtra, and 73 percent in Rajasthan saving. Of interest, 33 percent of them allocated 20 percent to 50 percent of their income. This research follows DBS Bank India's 2024 'Women and Finance' (WAF) series, which researched women's financial habits and working lives in urban and metro areas. The research, now informed by five focus group discussions, presents a stronger insight into resilience and savings habits of rural women entrepreneurs, highlighting the determination with which they aim to ensure a secure future by following diligent saving habits.

apoorva“Action isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about everyday decisions that move the needle. In advertising, and any industry, really real change happens when more women don’t just enter the room but shape the conversation. It’s about making leadership the norm, not the exception.

Our industry is built on moving pieces… brands, narratives, people, and it only gets stronger when diverse perspectives lead the way. The real acceleration? It’s not just about more seats at the table; it’s about ensuring those seats come with a voice that’s heard, valued, and truly makes a difference”.
