INS Kadmatt Strengthens India-Thailand Maritime Ties in Bangkok
In an effort to strengthen maritime collaboration between India and Thailand, INS Kadmatt of the Indian Navy has docked in Bangkok as a component of its Long Range Operational Deployment to the North Pacific Ocean and South China Sea. This visit is intended to improve interoperability between the naval forces of the two nations and cultivate a more robust maritime partnership.
The operational transformation in Bangkok encompasses various harbor activities, including a reciprocal visit by the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) Academy personnel and a conference in preparation for the forthcoming Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX). After leaving Bangkok, INS Kadmatt is scheduled to participate in the MPX alongside HTMS Rattanakosin, a corvette belonging to the Royal Thai Navy.
Scheduled for December 2023, Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), is set to visit INS Kadmatt and engage with the ship's crew. Additionally, the CNS is heading the Indian Naval delegation at the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Conclave of Chiefs (CoC), taking place in Bangkok, and hosted by the Royal Thai Navy.
INS Kadmatt, commissioned on January 7, 2016, is the second of the four indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) corvettes of the Indian Navy. The vessel has actively participated in numerous joint naval exercises with friendly nations, contributing significantly to regional security and fostering maritime ties. Equipped with a state-of-the-art weapon and sensor package, INS Kadmatt is capable of carrying out a wide range of missions. The ship is part of the Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet, based at Visakhapatnam, and operates under the command of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
