BANGALORE: India has seen tremendous development and is making its presence felt at a global front. Though the country has a number of the achievements tucked under the belt, it has only a select few cities that provide a better lifestyle. Let us take a look at the best cities in India, as compiled by the Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems 2014 conducted by Bangalore-based non-profit body, Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy. The cities were rated on four broad parameters: urban planning and design, urban capacities and resources, empowered and legitimate political representation, and transparency, accountability, and participation.

The city of Gujarat ranks tenth in the list and is one of the largest city in the country. The city established itself as the home of a developing textile industry, and earned the nickname ‘Manchester of the East’.
