Indian Stock Exchanges Closed in Observance of Ram Navami
In observance of Ram Navami, a significant religious festival in India celebrating the birth of Lord Ram, domestic financial markets will remain closed on Wednesday. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has announced the closure of equity, equity derivatives, SLB, and currency segments, with trading set to resume on Thursday, April 18. Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also be closed on Wednesday.
However, the commodity derivatives segment of the Sensex will have a special trading session on April 17, starting at 5 pm. Despite this session, it's important to note that it will be a settlement holiday, meaning any profits from trades or positions on April 16 and credits from exiting option positions on April 16 will not reflect in commodity account balances.
Ram Navami holds deep cultural and religious significance for millions of Indians, with devotees often observing day-long fasts and participating in various religious ceremonies and rituals to honor Lord Ram. This closure of financial markets on such occasions reflects the respect and recognition of the diverse cultural tapestry that defines India.
