Amazon Global Selling experienced a surge in business for Indian exporters during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping events globally, with a remarkable growth of over 80% compared to regular business and a substantial increase of more than 25% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Following the festive season in India, the BFCM sale has consistently been a crucial sales period for Indian exporters. The BFCM'23 shopping event notably resulted in a surge in business for numerous exporters participating in Amazon Global Selling. Exporters from tier 2 and tier 3 cities experienced robust year-on-year growth during this period, with Karur witnessing an increase of over 100 percent Y-o-Y, Junagadh nearly reaching 100 percent Y-o-Y, Erode surpassing 50 percent Y-o-Y, and Jaipur recording a growth of over 30 percent Y-o-Y.
"Our focus remains on enabling businesses of all sizes across India to leverage Amazon’s logistics and infrastructure to cater to customers across the world", said Bhupen Wakankar, Director, Global Trade, Amazon India. "We are humbled to play a role in taking their ‘Made in India’ products global as we continue to work towards our pledge of enabling $20 billion in cumulative exports from India by 2025", he added.
During the 11-day sale period, customers from global markets engaged in shopping from Indian exporters through Amazon Global Selling, with North America, Europe, and the Middle East emerging as the primary contributors to the highest sales. The most substantial growth was observed in various categories, including beauty (exceeding 80 percent year-on-year), health and personal care (approaching 50 percent year-on-year), grocery (surpassing 30 percent year-on-year), home (almost 30 percent year-on-year), and kitchen products (approaching 30 percent year-on-year).
Popular Indian brands selling internationally, including CGK Unlimited, Lane Linen, Kitsch, Skillmatics, California Design Den, and Gurunanda, along with thousands of others, saw high demand during BFCM 2023. "We’ve had a fantastic BFCM’23 with business growing 3x Y-o-Y", said Hemant Pisharody, Business Head, Homespun Global. “With a longer sale period this year, we had started preparing our inventory and improving discoverability four months in advance and our efforts paid off".
In order to empower additional businesses to tap into e-commerce exports and expand their global sales during the holiday season, Amazon has recently introduced SEND, a program in partnership with carriers. The initiative aims to streamline international shipping for Indian exporters. Within the initial month of its launch, hundreds of Indian exporters embraced SEND to dispatch their products during the festive season.
