Indian Diaspora a Bridge Between India and America

BJP spokesperson, Guru Prakash Paswan, described the Indian diaspora as a bridge between India and the US as they contribute greatly to the US economy.

BJP spokesperson, Guru Prakash Paswan, described the Indian diaspora as a bridge between India and the US, stating that the Indian American community has not only diversified and promoted India but has contributed to the US economy greatly.

Paswan, one of the youngest national BJP spokespersons, was on a multiple-city tour for his latest book, Makers of Modern Dalit History, and participated in the Jaipur Literary Festival in New York. The festival session was themed on intersections, seeking equity, paradigm shifts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and vocabulary shifts in Indian politics.

While speaking to PTI, Paswan expressed that the country has great respect for what the Indian diaspora is doing in the US and quoted the Prime Minister's words, saying that they are the real ambassadors who came here and built empires. Today, Indian Americans are CEOs of top organizations, including Google and Microsoft. He added that Indians might be fewer in number but have a greater share in the US economy.

Paswan reiterated the diversification of the Indian American community shared with the US economy and said that the countries would continue this relationship and this interface for better Indo-US bilateral ties. The countries have come together in Quad in the UNGA and look forward to more meaningful cooperation in building stronger ties between the two nations. Thus, the Indian American community is a bridge between India and the US.

Paswan interacted with several Indian American communities on his visit, including Washington, DC, Houston, and New Jersey. However, he was unhappy that the community did not celebrate the historic election of Droupadi Murmu as the first Indian tribal president as it should have been, expressing that it would have been ideal if the entire US Indian diaspora had celebrated the rise of Droupadi Murmu as it was a remarkable moment in Indian history. Her election has touched many people in India, especially youngsters from the backward Dalit and tribal communities, who see a reflection of themselves in Droupadi Murmu. This is a sort of aspiration; indeed, a revolution happened in India.

As he expressed his rue, he stated that definitely there is a consciousness, but there is always scope for more, and importantly, as McKinsey said, India is becoming the fifth largest economy, and how Indian growth trajectory has been inclusive and distributive, and the financial inclusion plan, the entrepreneurship support through startup India, stand up India, the mudra scheme, and the socio-economic revolution have an impact in the US.
