Indian Auto LPG Coalition Urges OEMs to Embrace LPG

The Indian Auto LPG Coalition (IAC)has adopted a very active approach to promote much cleaner and more cost-effective alternate fuels, considering them to be a viable fuel option, by writing letters to leading Original Equipment Manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Hyundai Motor India, Bajaj Auto, and Kia Motors. The letters emphasized the important benefits of Auto LPG and anticipated collaborating with OEMs to push for policy support and incentives for Auto LPG, establishing helpful environment for its widespread use. 

 Auto LPG is around 40% cheaper than petrol, and adapting a petrol vehicle to Auto LPG costs about Rs 30,000, much lower than the Rs3-5 lakh incremental cost for an electric vehicle.The company said that the Auto LPG, which is a true ‘Net Zero Hero’ emits 20% less CO2 than petrol and 60% less than diesel, produces almost no particulate matter (PM), and has considerably lower NOx emissions, decreasing air pollution and health issues. It is sourced from diverse geographies like the USA and the Middle East, ensuring a stable supply chain.

It provides a competitive edge and cost benefits due to lower conversion and infrastructure costs compared to EVs and CNG.
