Indian- American Naureen Hassan the New President of UBS Americas and CEO of UBS Americas Holding

Naureen Hassan will take her position as president of UBS Group, a multinational investment bank and financial services company, in October

Naureen Hassan, a renowned Indian-American finance executive, has been appointed as the new President of UBS Americas and CEO of UBS Americas Holding. Situated in Zurich and Basel, UBS is the major financial centre as it is the largest Swiss banking organisation and private bank in the world. The press release by UBS Americas states that she will be serving on the UBS Group’s Executive Board. Hassan is the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's first vice president and chief operating officer. She will take on the leadership role from October, succeeding Tom Naratil.

As a member of UBS’s Group Executive Board, Hassan will be responsible for managing client relations, promoting cross-business collaboration, navigating the emerging public policy landscape, and ensuring sound regulatory and reputational risk governance. She will also lead the company’s strategic growth and digital initiatives, particularly in the American regions, including the transformation of the firm’s Wealth Management Americas Platform, expansion of digitally customised banking services, the introduction of UBS Circle One in the area, and the execution of the Wealthfront acquisition upon closure.

Hassan held several prominent positions before joining the FRBNY. She worked as the chief digital officer for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and was an executive vice president leading Investor Services strategy, segments, and platforms at Charles Schwab Corporation. She undertook various responsibilities, such as digital and business transformation, strategy, and client experience leadership roles. During her departure note, Hassan shared her gratitude and privilege of working with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She has extensive experience in the field of financial services, with expertise in strategy, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and risk management.

Grown-up in south-central Pennsylvania, Hassan pursued her bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University and Master of Business Administration from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She is also the second-highest-ranking officer at the New York Fed and an alternate voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee, the body that determines the monetary policy of the United States. Hassan’s father Javad K Hassan is a Washington DC-based technology leader who immigrated to the US from Kerala, India.
