Indian- American Chandu Acharya Secures Position in Homeland Security
Chandu Acharya is appointed to Homeland Security’s Faith-Based Security Advisory Council.
An Indian- American, Chandu Acharya from Michigan, will hold an honorable position in the Faith-Based Security Advisory Council of Homeland Security. With 25 distinguished faith leaders from the United States, Mr. Acharya is a mere representative of the Hindu voice and is well-known in the Hindu community and interfaith forums for building bridges. Various faith communities facilitate the measure through dialogue and peace initiative
Mr. Acharya is widely involved with the appreciative initiatives of diverse community organizations on the enhancements of social equities and pluralism both locally and nationally. He made notable contributions in raising cross-cultural awareness among children and, therefore, embracing inclusivity through monitored working across the faith lines during challenging periods, be it a war, or a pandemic. Similarly, he represented the Hindu Americans in incidents like Hinduphobia and facilitated cultural sensitivity training for local officials.
Mr. Acharya currently serves on the Planning Commission of Canton Township, Michigan post his expertise as a Michigan Asia-Pacific Affairs Commission commissioner. He also serves as the president of South Asian American Impact, a board member of the Indian League of America, and an advisory member of the Detroit Indian Women’s Association. Alongside, he is also a considerate member of the Plymouth Canton Interfaith, with his board membership in the Michigan Indian Community Service and Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, USA.
