India Tests Agni-Prime Missile from Rail Launcher
  • India tests Agni-Prime missile from a rail based mobile launcher for the first time
  • The missile can hit targets up to 2,000 km with high precision
  • Test boosts India’s mobility, flexibility, and strategic defence readiness

India has successfully test fired the Agni-Prime missile from a rail based mobile launcher, marking a major breakthrough in the country’s defence capabilities. This is the first time India has used a railway mounted system to launch a ballistic missile, showcasing a new level of operational flexibility and mobility for its armed forces.

The test was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command. According to the Ministry of Defence, the missile performed as expected, hitting the target with high accuracy. This new rail launch system is designed to travel across the country without any special arrangements, making missile deployment quicker and more unpredictable in times of conflict.

The Agni-Prime is a new generation, canisterised, solid fuel missile with a range of up to 2,000 kilometres. It is lighter and more advanced than earlier missiles in the Agni series. The successful launch highlights India’s progress in developing mobile, flexible, and ready-to-use strategic weapons.
